Arya and Tasha Alexander hope the Sharks bite on Wellingtons, their ready made beef (and other meats) Wellington business, in Shark Tank episode 1502. A classic Beef Wellington is typically made with tenderloin of beef coated in pâté de foie gras, wrapped in puff pastry, and baked. The Alexanders take their Wellingtons a step further; they call them “Wellys.”
It all started during the Covid-19 pandemic when they were lokking for something interesting to make for dinner. They settled on Beef Wellington. For the next few months, they experimented with adding other meats inside the flaky puff pastry. They started in their own kitchen, but now they’re in a commercial kitchen in LA. They sell direct to consumer on their website and they partner with Pink Dot, Goldbelly, and Locale Market.
As for the Wellingtons, they have the traditional in single serve, large and extra large for $35, $90 and $180 respectively. There are a lot of oother choices, too. They have cheeseburger, breakfast and Nutella “Wellys” and cheeseburger and Buffalo chicken “Welly bites.” Throughout the year, they also introduce other Wellys such as a Thanksgiving Welly. They likely want a Shark’s help scaling and perhaps getting into retail.

Wellingtons Shark Tank Recap
Arya and Tasha enter the Shark Tank seeking $200,000 for a 10% stake in their business. Arya says great food makes for better dates and they introduce Wellingtons. A traditional Beef Wellington is a filet mignon wrapped in flaky pastry. It’s a mouthwatering, luxurious dish. Tasha asks if the Sharks have ever tried making a Beef Wellington. It’s incredibly complicated and time consuming, which is why most people only have it at a restaurant or on a special occasion.
They thought there had to be a simpler way to enjoy their favorite dish at home. That’s why they created Wellingtons., incredible, frozen Beef Wellingtons shipped directly to you. They do the work so you don’t have to spend time prepping or reading a difficult recipe. They say “we prep, you bake.” They show their full size Beef Wellington; all you have to do is pop it in the oven, bake it for 35 minutes and BOOM, you’re ready to serve. They have their classic Welly, a cheeseburger Welly, a breakfast Welly and a hazelnut chocolate Welly. They also have Buffalo Chicken Welly Bites and Cheeseburger Welly bites.
Let’s Eat!
The Sharks taste their samples. They like them. Kevin says it’s a difficult dish to make. Michael says it’s great not good. They sell the classic Welly for $35 and it costs $9.41 to make. They sell direct to consumer. They sell a 4 pack of Wellys on GolBelly for $169 includes shipping. They want to move away from Gold Belly. Last year (2022) they did $313,000 in sales, $240,000 was on Gold Belly and they lost $260,000. They need to shift to selling on their own site to make money.
Kevin says he can’t do theiir deal because he sells Sous Vide on QVC so he is a competitor; he’s out. Michael thinks it’s so young and small; he’s out. Mark says they have to find a different way to sell; he’s out. Arya says they just closed their first deal with a food service business. They have deals for 200 units of Welly Bites per month at 2 hotels. Lori says everything here is great but she doesn’t eat much meat; she’s out. Barbara wants to know what they want from a Shark. They want a partner. Barbara says she’s had success and failures in food businesses; she’s out.
