Recently, Robert shared an incident involving Mark Cuban and himself that changed his outlook on success and materialistic fortune. Through his Instagram post, the Shark investor revealed how Mark’s response to one of his statements transformed the way he used to think.
Why Did Robert Herjavec Say “Two Jets Are Better Than One?”
Shark Tank is ruling the reality TV space as it appeals to viewers of all ages who enjoy watching business/entrepreneurial-related topics. Based on the same, as Robert Herjavec revealed on Instagram, all the Shark investors were once invited to a high school to interact with kids.
Robert proudly noted, “We were rockstars to kids.” Adding further, he said that one of the great things about Shark Tank is that the investors get to make business “cool and fun.” Robert then revealed that the high school kids then raised their questions one by one to the Shark investors.
One of them asked him, “Robert, why do you work so hard? You work all the time.” Agreeing with him in the video, Robert said that while he was trying to be funny, there was “some element of truth” in his answer – “So that I can buy a bigger jet than Mark.” This is because at that time Mark actually had a bigger one.
Robert then recalled how, without pausing for even a second, Mark Cuban asked, “Which one?”
How Did Mark Cuban’s Statements Affect Robert Herjavec?
To put in the exact words of Robert, “It really took me to a loop.” This is because the Shark investor stated that during that time, while he owned just one jet, Mark had three. Although Mark’s response could have offended Robert, he took his response as a learning thought.
As seen on Shark Tank, Robert Herjavec showcased his humble nature in the Instagram video. Thinking hard about Mark’s statement, he reflected on what truly mattered in the pursuit of success. Robert said, ‘Who cares what Mark has? And why am I doing it?”
Robert Herjavec realized that he did not start his journey as a businessperson to get more stuff. He remarked, “I love stuff. I love to play. But I did it to build something great.”
Robert Herjavec’s Emphasis On ‘Purpose’
Continuing about his learnings from the experience with Mark, Robert stated, “You gotta have a purpose. And go back to your purpose.” This statement by the Shark investor was particularly meant for aspiring entrepreneurs because if they forgot about their ‘purpose,’ they could focus on unfulfilling possessions.
Robert Herjavec reiterated that while entrepreneurs can enjoy additional benefits of success, their primary emphasis should be on creating something impactful.
