The relations between all the Shark investors have developed organically through the many seasons of the show. This camaraderie goes beyond Shark Tank, as was seen during a book launch of Robert Herjavec in 2016. During the event, he was joined by Barbara Corcoran, where little-known details about Robert surfaced.

The two Shark investors sat down to talk about You Don’t Have to Be a Shark: Creating Your Own Success. As the title suggests, Robert’s creation emphasized how anyone can achieve glory if they follow the route of hard work and perseverance.

However, the book launch’s highlight happened when Barbara asked him his intent behind writing ‘overcoming the dark corners of our personality that make us insecure is the key.’

Robert Herjavec’s Attempt to Deal With Insecurities

Replying to Barbara, Robert Herjavec said that contrary to the strong image that Shark Tank viewers have about him, he, too, has insecurities. The Shark investor further revealed that despite all his successes, waking up every morning made him get scared about multiple things.

In this backdrop, Robert Herjavec noted that with time, he realized that the difference is how long he let himself dwell on those negative thoughts. During his young days, he would get affected a little extra. But as he matured, he understood that he did not have the ‘luxury’ of worrying about his insecurities.

To manage the situation, Robert started to find ways to limit the ‘darker moments into small boxes.’

How Helping Others Helped Robert Herjavec Heal?

Another interesting highlight of the event was when Barbara Corcoran recalled one of her previous conversations with Robert Herjavec during the time of his marriage turmoil. Barbara remembered how Robert was completely ‘distraught’ during that phase and sought advice from a local priest.

The Shark also revealed that a depressed Robert Herjavec then went to Seattle and signed up on a mission to help homeless people. She then asked Robert to share further details regarding the whole thing.

The Shark panelist said that he did not want the incident to appear any bigger than it was. After this, he stated that there was a ‘selfish reason’ behind him helping the homeless. This reason was to heal himself.

Sharing the exact details, Robert Herjavec said that he first reached out to a friend whose best friend was the priest. This priest was the one who ran the homeless missions in Seattle. When he appreciated Robert for his generosity, the Shark interrupted the priest and told him that he was doing it for himself.

Further, Robert Herjavec added that he thought if he helped those who were ‘worse off than him,’ it would help him feel a little better. Through this incident, the Shark investor wanted to say that bringing a positive change in others’ lives can help one ease their pain.
