Highlights

  • Shark Tank investor Robert Herjavec believes that success is a continuous journey and not a final destination.
  • Despite being 62, he rejects the idea of slowing down and embraces new opportunities in life.
  • His story highlights resilience, proving that ambition and growth has age limit and thus motivates millions by his approach.

Robert Herjavec happens to be one of the most popular investors from Shark Tank. A businessman and entrepreneur, Robert Herjavec built his career. He is a teenager who migrated to Canada with very little to his name. But he carved out his place in the business world through hard work. And he always speaks about his drive and determination that made him rise from humble beginnings to great success. But in a relatively recently published interview with Lewis Howes, Robert revealed something eye-opening about the lies we tell ourselves and how they work.

Robert candidly talks about the biggest lie he has told to himself till date. The 62-year old confessed there have been days he feels that his career might be nearing an end. He further elaborates that the truth is many successful people of this age have been slowing down. In his own words he says: “The biggest lie I’ve been telling myself lately is that ‘I’ve made it.’ You know, like I’m older now, I’m 62, and you think, ‘Oh, I’m kind of at the end of the road.”’

The Biggest Lie We Say To Ourselves

He mentioned that many people around him, the same who have aged, matured, and become influential individuals are slowly winding down the tempo of their lives. This made him wonder whether he too should ease up. However, after spending some time dwelling on this thought, Robert had a realization. “I know a lot of older people who are super successful, and they are kind of coasting, and it begins to affect me. And for a few months, I was thinking, ‘Yeah, maybe it’s time to slow down.’ And then one day, I thought, ‘Hang on a second.'”

It led him to a strong conclusion: the journey is quite a long way from over. He came to realize that age is just a number and that he still has the potential to build and achieve much more. “There are lots of people who start something new at this age, and I have more capital than I ever had. So, I think I can still do it again,” he declared with confidence.

Robert Believes Success is A Continuous Journey

According to Robert, success should not be viewed as a point in life but as a journey continuously unfolding. He signifies that people should not narrow their view based on age or circumstances. One should keep pushing forward and seek new opportunities to embrace fresh challenges in life. His views are more of an eye-opener that ambition and progression have no aging factor.

Another Instagram video shared a fascinating reflection that Robert had made on comparing himself to fellow Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban. Robert shared that Mark has three private jets, and for a brief moment, Robert started measuring himself with that benchmark. He soon realized that it wasn’t about the materialistic success but more about improving his life and making opportunities for himself and others.

Robert’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination. When his family moved to Canada, they had just $20 to their name. He had to work hard to establish himself, and through perseverance, he became one of the most recognized investors on Shark Tank. His story is a powerful reminder that success is a process that is always evolving, and as long as one has the drive to keep going, there is always room for growth and achievement. Simple yet profound is the lesson shared by Robert: never let limiting beliefs define your future.
