Besides her role on Shark Tank, Lori has been a very active figure in social media and often provides advice on how to make good business decisions. Her latest posts highlighted the positives of owning a business: freedom and creative control over her own time. But she didn’t shy away from discussing the other side of entrepreneurship, either, because it can really suck. The message was pretty clear: being your own boss surely has its perks, but that no one said it would be easy.
Being Successful Takes 24/7 Dedication
One of the biggest misconceptions, says Lori, is that it is thought to be a very glamorous way of living. Lori fired back: “People think that being your own boss, running your own business, is all great stuff and all fuzzy stuff, and it is. There are great things about it, sure. But there are hard things.” “It’s not about being able to make your own schedule, but being able to carry the weight of constant responsibilities,” she said.
In her video, she pointed out that entrepreneurship is working any time of the day, every day. It is not a typical 9-to-5 job where you can clock out at the end of the day. “It’s a really 24/7 job,” Lori stated. No matter what it is-a weekend or vacation-the entrepreneur is always on the job. Responsibilities don’t pause just because it is a holiday or personal leave. Lori emphasized that even if away from the office, the business owner has to make a check-in to ensure everything is running smoothly. The involvement is important in running a business and expanding it.
Entrepreneurship Is All About Commitment
Looking back on her entire journey, Lori revealed her desire to be her own boss. She explained that her independent spirit and creativity compelled her to start her own business. However, Lori was also realistic enough to acknowledge that it would take hard work. Entrepreneurship demands great independence and a work ethic to the hilt. She narrated, “I have always known that I wanted to be my own boss. Being very independent and wanting to do my own thing. But at the same time, you’ve got to be a really hard worker.” This shows that success is not just about having great ideas but also about putting in the effort to bring those ideas to life.
Besides this, Lori offered just the kind of helpful advice that would fit junior entrepreneurs: `You’ve got to be willing to work. You can’t just say, “Oh, it’s five o’clock and I am done,” or “Oh, it’s the weekend and I am off.” It doesn’t work that way.’ While she reminded me that running a business involved putting in more hours than a mere 9-to-5 job, it is hard work that pays off, however, for those willing to do it.
In her very blunt tongue-lashing to reality, Lori Greiner presented good insights on entrepreneurial challenges. She praised the freedom, creativity, and satisfaction of being your own boss while also shedding light on the demanding, more than full-time nature of this job. Thus her epiphany is a reminder that, while success can certainly be attained, it does have its price in commitment and gritty determination in confronting challenges.
