With almost 50 versions of the show across countries, the popularity of Shark Tank is second to none. Shark Tank US alone is currently delighting viewers in its sixteenth season. Over the years, their love for the show has grown so much that they want to know everything about it, including Shark Tank’s production secrets.

The hundreds of impressive deals, dramatic showdowns between Sharks investors, and chemistry between the pitchers and Sharks have collectively contributed to Shark Tank’s success. Based on this, the viewers have countless burning questions, discussed below.

Does Shark Tank Stop A Pitch Midway?

Shark Tank’s makers have followed strict rules since its first episode hit television screens. As seen during the Green Box pitch, entrepreneurs still have to continue if they fumble, forget, or make an error while presenting their product/business.

The show’s producer, Clay Newbill, further offered a clear picture during his interview with People. Clay revealed that no Shark Tank pitch is stopped midway, regardless of mistakes made by the pitcher. The only rare time a pitch’s shoot can be stopped is during microphone issues.

However, this issue, too, is generally resolved within minutes. Clay commented, ‘Usually, we’re down for maybe a minute or two, and then we’re right back into it.’

To ensure that such situations do not arise during a Shark Tank pitch, the makers present pitchers with their guidelines before their presentation. Plus, they are asked to bring their costumes and props (if required) themselves. This is why the Shark Tank makers do not give a second chance to entrepreneurs during pitches.

Are Shark Tank Pitches Edited?

A general Shark Tank episode is about 60-70 minutes long. In each episode, viewers see about four pitches, meaning one pitch gets a screen time of roughly 12 minutes. But during the shoot, the actual Shark Tank pitches are much longer and are edited after careful discussions.

Against this backdrop, Clay Newbill stated, ‘The average pitch is probably about 40 minutes, and we edit that down to between 7 to 12 minutes for what airs.’ The producer then explained the reason behind the longer duration of pitches.

Clay said that as Shark Tank presents real businesses of real entrepreneurs, and the Shark investors decide to invest hefty amounts, they are pretty thorough during the questioning. This is why the average length of a Shark Tank pitch is about 40 minutes.
